Beat the Streets New York (BTSNY), established in 2006, is a sport-based youth development organization whose mission is to develop the full human and athletic potential of urban youth and to strengthen the wrestling culture within New York City. BTSNY works with an average of 2,500 male and female student-athletes in all five boroughs, aged 10-18. Programs include the Academy, the Junior League, and the Training Center. In addition, BTSNY has a partnership with the NYC Department of Education’s Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) wrestling programs.
Summary: Reporting to the Head Boys and Girls coaches, the High School Assistant Coach will help support high school programming. The primary responsibility of the High School Assistant Coach is to serve as a coach at Training center practices, camps and competitions.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with check-in process and practice facilitation at BTSNY Training Center for all age groups

Assist with planning, communication and facilitation of monthly high school Academy enrichment days

Assist in planning and facilitation of college visits for high school Academy members

Assist in planning and facilitation of social outings and team-building experiences for high school Academy members

Market and promote programming events to high school student-athletes

Travel with age-group teams to regional training, tournament and event opportunities (preseason, in-season and postseason)

Attend and assist with facilitation of PSAL competitions

Assist with wrestling recruiting at local high schools through Gym Class Hero program

Assist with camps during preseason, Winter and Spring breaks, and summer
Minimum Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Valid driver’s license
-
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Wrestling background as a coach and/or athlete
-
Pass USA Wrestling’s background check
Desired Qualifications:
-
Experience with sports-based youth development
-
Experience working with diverse youth ages 11-18
