Beat the Streets New York (BTSNY), established in 2006, is a sport-based youth development organization whose mission is to develop the full human and athletic potential of urban youth and to strengthen the wrestling culture within New York City. BTSNY works with an average of 2,500 male and female student-athletes in all five boroughs, aged 10-18. Programs include the Academy, Junior League and Training Center. In addition, BTSNY partners with the New York City Department of Education’s Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) that sponsors a boys and co-ed season in the winter and a girls season in the spring.
Summary: The Up2Us Sports VISTA project builds the capacity of host site organizations working to end the cycle of poverty through intentional youth sports and education programming. The Up2Us Sports VISTA Annual Development Coordinator position will be placed at BTSNY to assist and improve the quality of BTSNY fundraising by providing support to BTSNY core administrative and development staff, Executive Director, Senior Director of Finance and Operations and Fund Development Manager in all fund development activities, including fundraising campaigns, events, donor prospecting, donor cultivation, solicitations, tracking and reporting donations, database maintenance, grant applications and stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:

Reach out and maintain communication with donors via calls, letters and emails

Send any follow up materials needed to donors after Board Member or Executive Director solicitation

Keep track of donor communication and update core administrative team on donation updates

Enter donations into the donor database, Raiser’s Edge, following established protocol for proper gift coding. Enter new data or clean up existing data to maintain integrity of the database

Produce and send tax receipts to donors, working with Executive Director and Fund Development Manager to maintain consistency

Organize and assist step-by-step support for all Special Events, including (but not limited to) the Annual Benefit

Organize and assist the Senior Director of Finance and Operations with the annual audit and donation income

Conduct regular donor prospect research (individual, corporate, and foundation) and maintain the prospect pipeline
