NEW YORK-Beat the Streets (BTS) best female athletes rose to the action against the best of the country at Women’s Nationals in Irving, TX over the weekend. This tournament, acting as the World Team Trials for multiple age groups, featured over 1000 competitors ranging in age from 9U to Junior. The eight BTS athletes represented six schools in four boroughs. Of these eight athletes, BTS had two All-American performances with two others ending their tournament in the blood round.

Outside of competition, BTS athletes were given the opportunity to interact with various college coaches, members of Team USA, and National and Olympic team coaching staff.

“It’s great to see the growth of wrestling at an event like Women’s Nationals,” Emma Randall, Girls Development Coordinator said, “We wrestled a lot of tough matches and feel like we know exactly where we need to improve to come back and win those matches at Fargo.”

BTS athletes share these reflective experiences following the competition. “Even though the outcome wasn’t what I wanted, the experience to watch some of the top wrestlers in the country in their element allowed me to compare and reflect,” Kai Poux, Brooklyn Tech said of the event, “I’m thankful to have been allowed the opportunity and hope to take what I’ve learned and make some improvements.”

In the U15 age level, Alessandra Elliot placed third at 62 kg, earning All-American honors and a position on the National Team. Elliot will challenge for true second to earn a spot on the Pan-American team.
