A Recap of What's Gone Down Since May

Spartan, City Championships, Fargo, Forbes, & More

The past month and a half has been a wild ride for us. So before we finish charging through July full steam ahead, we'd like to share with you a quick recap of what we've been up to since the end of May.

On May 25, BTS got back on the mats for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic to kick off the return of Training Center practices. Currently, BTS is running weekday practices at Edge Hoboken and Sunday practices at the NYPD Community Center in Brooklyn.

June 12 marked the date of the BTS Spartan Race. 60 BTS student-athletes, staff members, Board members, friends, family, and more teamed up in Bethel, NY to take on the Tri-State New York Spartan Sprint 5k. The BTS crew crushed the race, raising $80k for the organization. Plus, Eagle Academy Head Coach Jonathan Khoury sped through the course to take FIRST PLACE overall!

Exactly one week after the Spartan Race on June 19, the BTS Junior League concluded its season with an outdoor City Championships on Roosevelt Island. All five boroughs were represented, with 50 total youth participants. On the same day, the Academy also hosted an end-of-year picnic to wrap up its season and celebrate its graduating class.

On July 6, BTS alumni Chad Williams was announced onto the 2021 Forbes Next 1000 list for founding and running Doo Process, a clothing brand that fights for fair treatment through the judicial system. We covered Williams and the story behind his unlikely path toward entrepreneurship when he first launched his brand in June of last year.

Two days ago on July 12, the PSAL began a highly anticipated modified wrestling season! Additionally, three BTS Academy girls took off from New York City and landed in Fargo, North Dakota to compete in the 2021 USA Wrestling Junior and 16U Nationals. Good luck Jess, Makansira, and Alessandra!
