2 Beat the Streets Academy wrestlers win New York state titles in Greco-Roman

Four total Beat the Streets Academy wrestlers qualified for the USA Wrestling National Championships in July in Fargo, North Dakota.

Beat the Streets Academy wrestlers Davit Abjandadze and Xavier Giles each won state titles in the Greco-Roman junior division at the Jeff Blatnick New York State Olympic Style Wrestling Championships this past weekend.


Giles posted three technical falls and a fall to claim the 170-pound crown at the Pinnacle Athletic Campus in Victor, New York. He also took third in freestyle with three tech falls. Abjandadze recorded a 8-0 tech fall, a fall in 2:46 then an 11-6 decision to win the 220-pound title.


With their wins, the duo also qualified for the 2022 USA Wrestling National Championships in July in Fargo, North Dakota. Botensky Bauzile (132 Junior) and Oumar Tounkara (106, 16-under division) also punched their ticket to nationals with top-three placements in Greco-Roman. Tounkara and Bauzile claimed second and third in their weight classes, respectively.


Last week, Beat the Streets Academy wrestlers Sulayman Bah (126, Junior), Dwayne Harris (152, 16U) and Christian Solano (220 pounds, 16U) qualified for nationals with top-six finishes at the Northeast Regional Championships in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Solano took second and third in freestyle and Greco-Roman, while Bah and Harris each claimed sixth in Greco-Roman.


The 16U and junior national championships will be July 15-22 at the FargoDome in Fargo, North Dakota. The tournament will have competition in men's and women's freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
