The application process is open until Sept. 22 for New York City middle school and high school student-athletes.

Beat the Streets is now accepting applications for its 2025-26 Academy program, a holistic development program for New York City middle school and high school students.

The Academy is designed to provide students with personal development opportunities and world-class wrestling instruction. Open to students of all wrestling experience, the program emphasizes discipline, work ethic, hard work and academic success alongside wrestling development.

The program includes 10 Academy weeknight sessions during the school year over two semesters (five each in fall/spring). The sessions include guest speaker and a wrestling practice session. Guest speakers cover important life skills and leadership topics to help student-athletes excel off the mat. Past clinicians and speakers have included former Olympic champions, U.S. World Championship team members, NCAA men's and women's coaches and champions and more!

Academy benefits:

  • Life skill workshops

  • College readiness workshops

  • Local college visits

  • Travel competitions

  • Mentorships

  • SAT college prep

  • College scholarships

  • Access to career day

Since being founded in 2005, Beat the Streets has pioneered a movement that now includes 150 individual wrestling programs, a youth league and the first girls high school league.

BTS works to develop the full human and athletic potential of the urban youth and strengthen the New York City wrestling culture. We aim to make a lifelong impact on student-athletes through the lessons learned on the wrestling mat -- discipline, perseverance, self-reliance, humility and a strong work ethic.
