Beat the Streets' Sulayman Bah takes 6th at NHSCA High School Nationals

The junior earned All-American status at the premier high school wrestling tournament in the country.

Beat the Streets Academy member Sulayman Bah took sixth place at 120 pounds in the junior class division to earn All-American honors Saturday at the NHSCA High School Nationals.

Bah of Kiski Prep went 5-3 during the premier high school wrestling tournament in the country at Virginia Beach Sports Center. He won his first three matches then lost by fall to eventual national champion Tyler Knox (Massachusetts) in the semifinals. Bah then went 4-4 in the consolation bracket to finish in sixth place.

Bah was among 12 Beat the Streets members to compete in the tournament, with nine of them earning at least one win. Ten of the 12 wrestlers also previously wrestled in the Beat the Streets Junior League.

Christian Solano (Sophomore/285) of Eagle Academy and Isaias Torres (Senior/126) of Grand Street Campus each came one win short of earning All-American status. Solano lost 7-4 to eventual seventh-place finisher Philip Tabasso (Pennsylvania). Torres lost 9-5 to eventual eighth-place finisher Cody Phelps (Wyoming). Solano and Torres went 2-2 and 4-2 at the tournament, respectively.
