Beat the Streets students compete at 2023 Columbus Day Duals

Amir Avazov, Isabella Lorenzana and Oumar Tounkara each went undefeated.

Beat the Streets students competed in the Tyrant Wrestling Columbus Day Duals this past weekend in Manheim, Pennsylvania.


The BTS boys team won two duals to earn sixth place in pool play and 23rd place overall in the 30-team American bracket. Amir Avazov and Oumar Tounkara led the BTS boys team by going undefeated. Avazov posted five falls and four decisions, and Tounkara had two falls, two major decisions and four decisions.


Andrew Gomez, Erick Largo, Cristian Cruz and Luka Zakaidze each had two falls. Anthony Isaac, Robert Dizengorf, Dean Gray and Kerolos Gorgy also had a fall.


Isabella Lorenzana also went undefeated for the BTS girls with four falls. Gabrielle Heffez had two falls and Marielys Lugo had one fall.


Since being founded in 2005, Beat the Streets has pioneered a movement that now includes 150 individual wrestling programs, a youth league and the first girls high school league.
