The University of Virginia alum believes wrestling teaches self-discipline and personal responsibility better than any other sport.

Beat the Streets Wrestling, Inc. is proud to announce Dr. Brendon Stiles as the newest member of its Board of Directors.
Dr. Stiles is the Professor and Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Surgery Oncology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Health System. He is also the Associate Director for Surgical Services at the Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center (MECCC). He leads a comprehensive translational and clinical lung cancer research program at Montefiore Einstein, where he focuses on overcoming disparities of care and health inequity for patients in the Bronx and beyond.
The Virginia native competed in wrestling in high school and later attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate studies and medical school.
"I am excited to join the BTS Board and introduce more New York City boys and girls to the sport of wrestling," Dr. Stiles said. "It is a sport that is readily accessible to all and teaches self-discipline and personal responsibility better than any other sport. I look forward to playing a role in empowering BTS to continue to change the arc of thousands of young lives through mentorship and the lessons learned through the sport of wrestling."
Dr. Stiles is already familiar with the New York City wrestling community as his two sons wrestle at Collegiate School in Manhattan.
The BTS Board of Directors is dedicated to supporting the organization’s operations and programs, which provide opportunities – on and off the wrestling mat – for urban youth across New York City’s five boroughs.
Since being founded in 2005, Beat the Streets has pioneered a movement that now includes 150 individual wrestling programs, a youth league and the first girls high school league.
BTS works to develop the full human and athletic potential of New York City urban youth and strengthen the city's wrestling culture. We aim to make a lifelong impact on student-athletes through the lessons learned on the wrestling mat -- discipline, perseverance, self-reliance, humility and a strong work ethic.
