Luke Lilledahl, Spencer Lee rekindle rivalry at 57kg in men's freestyle at 2026 Final X, presented by Kerberos Capital Management

Final X rematch set between Spencer Lee and Luke Lilledahl for 2026 U.S. World Team spot.

The rivalry between three-time age-group World champion Luke Lilledahl and Olympic silver medalist Spencer Lee continues at 2026 Final X, presented by Kerberos Capital Management. The winner of the best-of-three series earns the 2026 Senior World Team spot at 57 kg in men’s freestyle. Final X takes place on June 19 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Lilledahl and Lee met at 2025 Final X with Lee sweeping the series with a pair of decisions, 7-2 and 6-0. Earlier this year, Lilledahl avenged his loss to Lee in the finals of the U.S. Open, 5-4, which qualified him for Final X. The first ever meeting between Lee and Lilledahl came at the 2023 Bill Farrell Memorial International, with Lee winning an 11-0 contest in the semifinals.

Lilledahl has been strong on the age-group World stage for the U.S., winning five medals in each of his age-group World Championship appearances. Lilledahl has won a gold and silver medal in the U17 and U20 age groups, and claimed the 2025 U23 World title. On the Senior level, he won gold at the 2025 Polyak Imre & Varga Janos Memorial Ranking Series and claimed bronze at the 2023 Bill Farrell Memorial International.

Lee has a proven track record on the international stage, highlighted by an Olympic silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games. Along with being a member of the 2025 World Team, Lee is a three-time age-group World champion. The Iowa City resident won gold in both of his international appearances this season at the first two United world Wrestling Ranking Series events—the Zagreb Open and the Muhamet Malo Tournament. Lee locked in his spot at Final X with a victory at the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament.

Just completing his sophomore year at Penn State, Lilledahl captured his first NCAA national title. During his first two seasons with the Nittany Lions, he has won two Big Ten crowns and is also a two-time NCAA All-American.

As a collegian, Lee was a three-time NCAA champion, four-time NCAA All-American, three-time Big Ten champion and two-time Dan Hodge Trophy winner for the University of Iowa from 2017 to 2023. He was named the 2020 AAU James E. Sullivan Award winner, which is presented annually to the outstanding amateur athlete in the U.S.

What’s at stake at Final X?

Final X will determine the 2026 U.S. Senior World Team in two-of-three international disciplines — men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle. In total, 20 weight classes will be contested, 10 in each discipline. The top two U.S. athletes in each weight class will wrestle a best-of-three series at Final X to determine the U.S. representative for the 2026 Senior World Championships.

Beat the Streets New York Annual Benefit

Final X will serve as the 2026 Beat the Streets New York Annual Benefit, its 16th to date. These unique electrifying events help BTSNY raise critical funds each year to support local youth wrestling programs, which empower young people in New York City. The BTSNY Annual Benefit after-party takes place at the conclusion of Final X.

This will be the second Final X and Beat the Streets event appearance for both Lilledahl and Lee, following their head-to-head matchup at Final X last June. Lee won that series two matches to none.
